Summer Collection I
-
Overview
Sarah Wiseman Gallery is pleased to present Summer Collection I, running throughout June and July. Beginning in early June with new works by Marissa Weatherhead and expanding mid-June to include Alison Pullen, Elaine Jones, and Martha Winter, the exhibition brings together contemporary landscape painting, still life, interiors, and abstraction.
Marissa Weatherhead’s semi-abstract paintings balance fluidity with abundance, using a vibrant colour palette to simplify familiar subjects through intuitive visual language. Her contemporary still life and landscape paintings celebrate life’s small luxuries, evoking memories of travel, summer holidays, and shared moments around the table.
Elaine Jones creates expressive landscape paintings inspired by places she has travelled to, capturing the atmosphere and unpredictability of nature through movement and colour. Drawing influence from the icy expanses of Antarctica, the forests of Costa Rica, and the coastlines of Cornwall, her paintings explore the balance between wilderness, light, and emotion.
Alison Pullen’s collaged interior artworks immerse the viewer within carefully observed spaces. Working exclusively in situ, she responds to the architecture, history, and light of a room, capturing the immediacy of first impressions. For this collection, Alison created new works in the grounds and interiors of Radley College.
Martha Winter creates sculptural wall-based paintings inspired by the movement and rhythm of ocean waves. Developed through years of experimentation, her process incorporates natural materials collected from landscapes, ground down and mixed with pigment before being sculpted onto the surface. Her minimalist approach allows the organic patterns and textures of nature to emerge with clarity and calm.
Summer Collection I will be on view throughout June and July before the gallery transitions into Summer Collection II.
