Late Summer: New work by Dan Parry-Jones and Veronica Wells

Overview

Dan Parry-Jones’ expressive mixed media landscapes take inspiration from the city, the beach and his travels abroad. Dan’s multi-layered, mixed media works remix his artistic influences and inspirations into new and exciting paintings, which have a distinctly British flavour. Dan returns to Sarah Wiseman Gallery with a new body of work inspired by a recent trip to LA. His subject matter is warm and friendly, with images of children playing by a swimming pool or exploring their surroundings, drawing our attention to the lives of the people around us.

Each of Veronica Wells’ figurative paintings tells a story of popular culture, materialism and fashion. Her paintings depict an idealised world of style, attempted perfection, and characters with attitude. The dramatic world of fashion and materialism in Veronica’s work draws us into the stories behind them, curious to find out more about the characters that she has created. Her depictions of idealised society, especially representations of women, are particularly relevant in contemporary discussion of femininity and privilege.
