Sue Gunn creates tactile candelabras that combine function and sculpture with bubbled and cracked glazes, reminiscent of the earth’s surface. Their eccentric forms resemble the human intervention in the natural world, fired at intense heat in the kiln allowing the elemental process to lead their outcome.

Sue creates her candelabras by slab building, pinching, and coiling hollow clay tubes, before putting in the kiln at extreme temperatures, allowing the element of chance to create their final forms. The resulting pieces are each unique, allowing the element of chance to play.

After graduating with a BA in Ceramics at Morley College, Sue exhibits her work nationally, including at Ceramic Art London, as well as in galleries across the UK. She is also featured in the Crafts Council Directory and the Homo Faber Guide.
