Felt needling is a key part of Erin's practice. She painstakingly builds the surface of the art work up with fine layers of wool, painting and sculpting with each strand. It is a highly versatile technique and a fascinating process. The inspiration to use the wool came in the form of raw wool packaging for aesthetics products, discarded in the pursuit of beauty. She found a poetry in upcycling the wool in her art works exploring identity.
The demonstration will be in the gallery on Saturday 10th May from midday and is free to attend.
