Alison Pullen collaged interior of a maximalist decorated dining room in dark colours with a large table and window
Alison Pullen | Pompette Private Dining Room | Mixed Media

We are delighted to present our Christmas exhibition opening on Saturday 25th November, it is always a fun time of year at the gallery, and we love the excitement in the run up to the big day. The gallery is filled with a wonderful group show by our gallery artists, a curation that highlights how well our individual artists work together and gives inspiration for your own collection.

For the opening weekend we have some incredible new pieces by, Daniel Ablitt, Bee Bartlett, James Fotheringhame and Alison Pullen

Daniel Ablitt creates the mood for the exhibition with his stunning large scale painting ‘Frozen Lake – Skater’ Oil on Panel, soft snow flakes fall across a lake framed by birch trees, a solitary figure on the ice, enjoying a moment of peace.

Bee Bartlett brings shimmering gold with a long awaited new collection of her Oxford paintings. Bee is local to Oxford and she loves the architecture of the city, her paintings are collages of loved buildings rather than a traditional view, the warm colour of the stone is reflected in the sky with gold leaf.

Bee is a very keen walker and has recently taken pilgrimage walks in Europe, the Camino Primitivo and the Portugues. Her love of walking and the outdoors are reflected in her ethereal landscape paintings that join the exhibition, with big skies and atmospheric light. The inspiration for these pieces come from closer to home, Port Meadow.

Staying with the natural theme we will feature in the exhibition new paintings by James Fotheringhame. James who would describe himself as a rewilder/garden designer/painter, is immersed in the natural world. His subject chooses him, captured from his own rewilded garden, often observed from the kitchen window or from one of the gardens he cares for. Each painting is a moment in time when everything feels in harmony, like in Goldfinch Aspen, set against a spring blue sky, the goldfinch camouflaged by the soft colours of the aspen, its red and gold feathers glinting in the bright sunshine.

Alison Pullen has been to one of Oxford’s leading restaurants to paint in their dramatically styled Private Dining Room. This richly detailed painting, created in situ, exudes maximalist chic, with dark walls, layered lightly and vintage furniture.

Laura from Pompette says: ‘it was incredible to have Alison come to the restaurant to paint, to watch the art works be created through her process of collage and painting. It was truly magical to see the room I created through an artist’s eyes.’

We add to the craft collections  with delicate new pieces by Fliff Carr, her exquisitely decorated treasure bowls and expresso cups in white earthenware clay are perfect for gifts. They feel like heirlooms of the future with a vintage feel to each unique piece created by lace imprints and images from antique books.
