Marissa Weatherhead’s still life works sit within a delicate balance of abundance and fluidity. Plentiful tables of seafood, flowers, fruits and glasses of wine sit on large tables, accompanied by seaside or interior backdrops.

Marissa’s painting style simplifies her subjects, concentrating on what we know about an object through knowledge and visual understanding. Her exuberant colour palate invigorates her often familiar subjects, celebrating the small luxuries in life. When looking at Marissa’s paintings, we may be reminded of memories from past holidays, or bountiful banquets with loved ones.

Marissa trained at the Royal College of Art in London and has since received highly respectable scholarships for her practice, such as the John Minton and Boise. She has also been awarded five Artist in Residence Awards in Spain, Italy and Morocco. Her paintings can be seen across Europe and are held in many public and private collections including the Guildhall School, Barbican, London.
