Specialising in ceramics and print, Heidi Harrington takes an innovative approach to clay and image, which she first developed during her studies at Bath School of Art and the Royal College of Art. Collections are inspired by nature, journeys and photographic details she gathers of fleeting moments in the world around us.
Each piece begins with a fresh porcelain screen print from her own photography, which is then stretched and formed into and over moulds. The imagery is also printed directly onto the surfaces of cylindrical polished porcelain pieces.
Layers are added giving a history of the making process, glazes are sometimes added to bring atmosphere, like the weather. Her work includes sets of vases, larger vessels and bowls and wall plates, which are all visual descriptions of process, place and experience.
Heidi works from her home studio in Surrey and regularly exhibits collections alongside her work in education as Lead Technical Instructor in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art.
