Patrick Barker's figurative sculptures have charmingly rounded forms, expressing a delightful physicality and joie-de-vivre. Created in stone or cold cast bronze, their smooth surfaces are softly curving and invitingly tactile. His most recent figurative sculptures in bronze explore powerful, athletic movements, their bodies perfectly balanced.
"I have always liked looking for rhythms and patterns made by one or two figures and that is the origin of much of my sculpture. I am stone carver first and foremost but I now use bronze as a medium on occasion as it allows me to make work I could not do otherwise in stone; ideas and thoughts can be revisited and reassessed using a different technique."
Patrick Barker is a graduate of Bath Academy of Arts and gained a post graduate degree from Cyprus College of Art. He has been selected for a large number of major public commissions and his work can be found in notable private collections in the UK and worldwide. He was elected Associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1997.
