Private View | Zelga Simone Miller - 'The Line, The Grain And Everything In Between'

Join us Thursday 18th January from 6pm - 8pm

We're pleased to invite you to the opening of Zelga Simone Miller's debut solo show 'The Line, The Grain And Everything In Between' at Sarah Wiseman Gallery, Thursday 18th January from 6pm-8pm.

Zelga Simone Miller's work explores the vulnerability of the human condition, creating conversation with the figure in composition and pose. Using imagery often deriving from photographs or memory, Zelga is fascinated by the fundamentals of drawing in her practice of painting and print making, creating a balance and stillness in the fluidity of the figure. The enigmatic characters emerge from washes of colour, allowing space for the viewer to develop personal connections and conversations around each piece. Zelga says, ‘Ultimately, I see my practice as examining humankind’s actions, emotions, and subsequent resilience; I am fascinated by our capacity to adapt to adversity.’

In Zelga Simone Miller’s debut body of work for the exhibition, ‘Gymnastics of Life’, she explores ideals of motherhood and the relationship dynamics between mother & child. ‘The dynamics between mother & child are complex and multi-faceted. Mothers are represented as strong and emotionally contained who view and are viewed through a lens of detachment’.

In 2016 – 2017, Zelga Simone Miller attended a Complete Drawing short course at Ruskin School of Art before attending an Oil Painting course at Central Saint Martins in 2017. She then graduated an MFA Fine Art from Wimbledon School of Art & Oxford Brookes University, after which she undertook a course through Turps Banana Painting School from 2022 – 2023. Zelga SImone Miller exhibits internationally with her paintings and prints including the 2023 Royal Academy Summer Show.
