Harriet White's painting reflects moments of intimacy and familiarity, conveying a sensation of the modern, fleeting ‘snapshot' rendered in a traditionally time consuming medium. These are mundane, everyday actions, which when translated into a painting, take on a different status at odds with their unglamorous beginnings.

"The scale and close cropping of the image magnifies and accentuates flaws and freckles for scrutiny, expressing a certain vulnerability and enabling the viewer to engage with the subject, whilst at the same time being left with a slightly uneasy feeling of intrusion."

Harriet White graduated from Bath Spa University College in 2001 with a degree in Fine Art (Painting). Previous to that she completed a year's BTEC Foundation course at Falmouth College of Art. She is currently living and working in Bristol, undertaking commissions and creating work for exhibition.
