ELAINE JONES BIOGRAPHY
|
Elaine Jones' broody abstract paintings capture the intensity of light, atmosphere and serenity represented in our unique environment. She aims to capture this diversity through the use of simplistic geometric lines, poured paint and splashes of colour. By manipulating elements of control with chance she echoes the impermanence, fragility and changeability within all things. Elaine will be creating a new body of work later on this year influenced by the rainforests of Costa Rica and Panama where she is partaking in a months drawing excursion in Febuary. "Colour, alongside texture, is the main ingredient to my work. I am particularly interested in the contrast between heavily textured areas and the very flat, serene and blended areas of paint. Many ideas for my palette stem from colours experienced in different places, such as those from the Mediterranean, Africa or the South of England". Elaine Jones was brought up in the Midlands and studied art at Newcastle Under Lyme College before undertaking a painting degree at Loughborough University. Whilst a student she won the fine art award and spent six months studying painting at Granada University in Spain. She now lives and works in a city centre studio in Bristol. Her work can be seen exhibited throughout the UK and Europe. |
